Probiotics, prebiotics, and postbiotics have the same goal, namely to maintain a healthy body, but have different work functions.
- Probiotics are living microorganisms that can have a good or health effect on other organisms /their hosts. Widely used for gut health, very few applications in skin care due microbe in cosmetics formula. Example: Lactobacilli, bifidus bacteria
- Prebiotics are compounds in food that induce the growth or activity of beneficial microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi. Widely used for gut and skin care. Example: Inulin, fructooligosaccharides
- Postbiotics are factors that can dissolve, be secreted by living bacteria, or are released after lysis of bacteria provides physiological benefits to the host. This posbiotic is unique because it is the result of probiotic microorganisms which, for example, we take from skincare, namely Lactic acid, hyalunic acid which is used as an active hygine for skincare products. Widely used for (gut and) skin care. Example: Lactic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid
